Our Core Work for 2026

Karunika Foundation operates long-term, fundable programs that ensure children in remote and underserved communities of Nepal have access to education, nutrition, and protection.
All programs are designed for continuity, transparency, and measurable impact.

What We Do

We support children from underprivileged families to stay in school and succeed academically by covering essential education costs.

Program Includes

  • School fees (government & community schools)

  • Tuition centers in remote locations

  • Learning materials (books, stationery, uniforms)

Where We Work

Multiple rural districts across Nepal, in cooperation with local schools and families.

Why This Matters

Education is the strongest long-term protection against child labor, early marriage, and poverty.

What We Do

We operate school-based kitchens that provide daily nutritious meals to children attending government schools in remote areas.

Program Includes

  • School kitchens operated locally

  • Daily cooked meals during school days

  • Food procurement from local suppliers

Program Scale

  • 5 school kitchens

  • 5 districts

  • Hundreds of meals served daily

Cost Transparency

  • Average cost per child per day: 0.50 usd

  • Monthly 11 usd and annual budgets 110 usd

Why This Matters

A daily meal increases school attendance, improves health, and directly supports learning outcomes.

What We Do

We provide protection and emergency support to children and families facing crisis situations.

Program Includes

  • Emergency aid for families in distress

  • Basic health and hygiene support

  • Crisis response to floods, landslides, and natural disasters

When This Activates

  • Natural disasters

  • Sudden loss of family income

  • Health emergencies affecting children’s schooling or nutrition

Why This Matters

Short-term crises can permanently disrupt a child’s future if not addressed quickly.
